AFPA Trust Quiz Looking Forward with Wooden Spoon – Summer 2020
With the postponement of our AFPA Trust Summer asset finance networking event and the knock-on to our fund-raising effort for our chosen 2020 charity “Wooden Spoon”, we were delighted to organise our first ever AFPA Quiz on Thursday 11th June via Zoom.
Opening proceedings, Ollie Philips, ambassador for Wooden Spoon and former England Rugby Sevens Captain, explained the excellent work of the charity to positively transform the lives of children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland, through the power of rugby. He thanked AFPA Trust and in particular Nick Stevenson of brokerage Corporate Leasing & Finance for nominating Wooden Spoon as this year’s AFPA Trust chosen charity. We also learnt that Nick had accompanied Ollie on a fund raiser last year up Everest to play the highest ever game of rugby and survived!
Johnnie Halliday from independent advisor Asset Finance Management Solutions acting as AFPA Quiz Master welcomed 10 family groups. In particular he congratulated Nathan Mollett from Metro Bank who just completed an amazing 100K run in aid of the South East Cancer Help Centre.
We embarked on 50 multiple choice Quiz questions using Zoom and Kahoot along with intermittent WIFI challenges. Companies and families represented included, from AFPA Trust Stephen Bassett and David Marsh and families`, Robert Taylor from Lti Solutions, the Stevenson family from CL&F, Steve & Lali Dexter from Clear Asset Finance, Adrian Langford and family from Rivermore Asset Finance, Nathan and family from Metro Bank, Jason Davies and family from Conister Finance & Leasing. Our eventual winner was Steve Williams and family from Investment Bank KBW with 35 out of 50 correct answers who triumphed with a bottle of champagne.Stephen Bassett Chair of AFPA Trust commented “It was great to be able to add to our regular Friday lunch time catch ups during the pandemic with a fun charity event. We are pleased to announce an initial contribution of £2,500 to Wooden Spoon. In addition, we have made a £150 donation to support Nathans charity efforts.
