36,000 Thank Yous From Somerset’s Former High Sheriff

Johnnie Haliday - High Sheriff

Dear Stephen, Fellow AFPA Trustees, Members and Friends

I hope this note finds you, your family and friends safe and well.

This is a very belated thank you for AFPA generous contribution to my Unlocking Potential Somerset Appeal – as part of our ongoing High Sheriff initiative to find pathways to a brighter future for disadvantaged teenagers.

My apologies for being so late to write. It has taken time with Somerset Community Foundation’s help to reconcile Charity Aid Foundation donations, cheques, cash received, Gift Aid claimed and all reconciled to Somerset Crimebeat Trust reserved Fund.

I am delighted to report that we have so far raised circa £36,000. This will fully fund a three-year Insights to Apprenticeship Programme for one Taunton Deane school for forty-five disadvantaged year nine teenagers. This is due to start in academic year 2020/21, within prevailing government guidelines.

After my year, I am continuing to seek funds to achieve an expansion for two further Taunton schools by raising enough to join the programme. The aim is to help find positive pathways for a further ninety young pupils to benefit from this initiative.

With very best wishes and thank you again for AFPA support and significant contribution to our fund raising in my High Sheriff year.

Johnnie
